RimWorld
A colony sim story generator where survival, mood, combat, and emergent disasters shape every run.

The Game Foundry take
RimWorld isn't a colony sim — it's a story generator that happens to use a colony sim as its delivery mechanism. The point isn't to win; it's the moment your best shooter gets a bionic arm, develops a drug habit, and starts a feud with the colony chef. If you come in expecting Frostpunk-style direction or Stronghold-style combat, you'll find RimWorld weirdly aimless. Come in expecting Dwarf Fortress with usable UI, and it becomes one of the most replayable games ever made. The DLC is borderline mandatory — Royalty, Ideology, Biotech, and Anomaly each change the game fundamentally.
