The Game Foundry take

The Wandering Village's central gimmick — building a settlement on the back of a giant, wandering creature named Onbu — is also its best idea: your entire economy is bounded by a living, moving platform whose health you have to actively manage alongside your own colonists' needs. It's a smaller-scope, more melancholic take on the survival-city-builder than Frostpunk or Against the Storm, six years and a full early-access cycle in the making, and it rewards players who want a story-flavored builder rather than an endless sandbox.

Best for

Players who want a distinctive, story-flavored city builderFans of smaller-scope, atmospheric settlement simsAnyone tired of grid-based city builders
